Tyler: The Baseball Stud

Tyler at bat in mid-swing.Tyler is our second oldest grandchild and the second of Becky's two children.  If I had to describe Tyler using only one word, it would be "sports."  There was a time when he was younger, he stated unequivocably that he was going to attend Duke University on a basketball scholarship.  However, his height made that goal difficult to meet so I think he has moved on to another goal.

Tyler has always been interested in all kinds of sports.  He and his mother will watch Nascar together.  His Nascar idol was Jeff Gordon – for awhile anyway. Ty is an avid fan of local teams – The Sacramento Kings basketball team and River Cats, an Oakland A's Triple A team.  He has always been a fan of the Bay Area teams – Both San Francisco and Oakland.  One time Becky brought the kids down to the Oakland A's stadium for an exhibition game between the Oakland A's and the San Francisco Giants.  Games like that are always promoted as a "Battle of the Bay."  Poor Ty had a hard time at that game; he couldn't decide which team to root for!

These days Ty is concentrating on baseball.  His skills are so good that he advanced to the Little League Major level at least a year early.  That first year in the Majors was hard because of his age and size.  Since then he has grown into the level and does very well. Last spring he played in the All-Stars (in the Minors because that was his age level).  He also played "winter baseball."
