The Larlee Genealogy
There are many people who like to do their family trees so they can find out about their ancestors. Then there are a select few for which genealogy is much more than a list of names - genealogy is a compulsion that requires so much more. We don't want to just know who, we need to know the why and how as well. We want to know – and share – the story of our family; how did we get to where we are today, how did the events of history affect our family, why did our ancestors do this or go there.
Working on my father's family tree has created that compulsion in me to find out the who, how and why of the Larlee family. It has been a fascinating journey that continues still. I am very near to the place where I will be able to start on a book that will tell our family's story.
My Children's Ancestors
In recent years my daughter has begun to express an interest in her father's ancestry. That particular story is a bit more complicated, although I suspect it's just as fascinating as the Larlee story. Both of my first husband's parents were first-generation Jewish Americans. His paternal grandparents emigrated from Hungary and his maternal grandparents emigrated from Russia. I am working on that particular family tree through Ancestry.com.
