How
we met
In
1999, I was spending Thanksgiving alone. I had to work the next day and
didn't really feel like making a one-day trip up to Sacramento. That day
I received an email from someone responding to my profile on Friendfinder.com.
That someone was Brad. I think I still have that email. I must confess,
I almost didn't respond, but I did. He was at home recovering from a bad
case of bronchitis and didn't want to meet until he was sure he wasn't
infectious. We emailed back and forth through the weekend sharing life
stories. Then we found out we both had ICQ. After that, it was all instant
messaging. In the process, we found out we lived about five minutes apart
from each other!
We
met for dinner the next Thursday, a week after that first email and ended
up talking for about three hours. Our second date was a trip to Walmart!
By that time, Brad had decided I was the one for him. I tell people that
I fell at his feet -- because he tripped me! I found it a bit overwhelming
at first. I'd never had anyone shower me with affection the way he did
and still does. But he won me over -- in record time too. By Christmas
I'd all but moved in with him, which is to say, I was living with him,
but my furniture and most of my other things were still in my apartment.
As soon as my lease was up, Brad had me moved so fast it was breath-taking!
He says he wasn't going to give me a chance to change my mind. As if I
would have...
Brad
is old fashioned in the sense that if I was going to be living with him,
we were going to be married. I certainly didn't require that step but
who was I to argue? Especially when he could be so persuasive. Since neither
of us had ever had a real wedding, we decided that's what we were going
to have -- with all the trimmings. All the details are on the Wedding
page complete with pictures.
Meeting
and marrying Brad is probably the best thing I ever did. THIS one is the
marriage made in heaven -- computer heaven even! Our union included a
computer network, literally. We even have a computer room in the house
and that's where we spend most of our time. Computer soulmates is what
we are I guess. I just know that I adore him and he adores me. Our fondest
wish is to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversay someday.
